Hey everyone, new to the sub and to total war as a franchise - it seems that pretty much every single total war game has been massively reduced on steam and so I thought I’d dive in to a couple to see if they’re my kind of game - just wondering what people would recommend as a starting point for a newbie like myself? I’ve heard good things about Rome, three kingdoms and Empire, but I’d appreciate some advice on where to put my money! Thanks :)
My thoughts on why you guys should either start playing Total War Warhammer 2 and or why you should get others to join you, join us in what is in my opinion the best Total War Game ever made!
Total War: Thrones of Britannia is the best Total War game for one simple reason.
You know that thing that happens every time CA launches an update, where the size of your game doubles and you have to uninstall a bunch of other games just to make room on your hard drive to finish downloading and updating your Total War game? Thrones of Britannia never gets updates! =D
Is it just me, or is Total war medieval 2 the best total war game? I preferred the way that buildings were built, troops recruited, and that you could play for any faction you destroyed.
Basically the title and I know it depends on what you like but what’s the most polished, has the most features, and best diplomacy and battles. I am new to strategy games so the easiest one to get into and for strategy beginners would also be nice. Btw my graphics card is a 2060 rtx and my cpu is a ryzen 3600.
I am sure this question has been asked numerous times but I am new to reddit and curious to what everyone else thinks. For me it goes: 1) Shogun 2. Probably the toughest campaign but its just pure chaos 24/7. And I think the battle graphics are the smoothest. Also. Im a big archer guy and the archers on this game are ridiculously good. 2) Medieval 2. The game that got me hooked on the series. Just the perfect time period for a TW game. Plus the soundtrack was top notch. 3) Three Kingdoms. Was a little overwhelming at fist but once you get the hang of it you come to really appreciate the attention to detail. 4) Empire. The AI sucks in this game and there are some other annoying bugs but its probably my favorite time period in the series. Plus its the only game with a truly global campaign. 6) Rome 2. I dont have any major issues with this game. The battles are cool and i like how you can have a POV camera view of a certain unit. But the campaign is kinda dull and very easy once you get any sort of power. 7) Atilla. Another tough campaign. Found myself spending a lot of time micromanaging only to go nowhere. Also could never figure out the nomadic part of the game. N/A) Medieval 1. Played it briefly as a kid and I do not remember too much about it. N/A) Warhammer series. Haven't Played either. Just not a big fantasy guy but I see that the majority of this sub swears by them so I may have to give it a shot. N/A) Saga series. Britannica was alright, just didnt play it much. Got Troy because it was free but have yet to play it. N/A) Rome and Shogun 1. Before my time. N/A) Napoleon. Played it for a brief period of time but ended up just going back to Empire.

Hi guys. New to the game here Im currently playing RomeII and I love it. Its a hery big game with tons of factions and tons of stuff to do.but,are there bigger games than it?(excluding warhammer)

Well why? Medieval 2 has infinite replayability! There are over 200 mods out there. Over 50 total overhauls. An infinite amount of easy to do player changes just by opening a folder and changing a number or letter. That game doesnt restrict you to a character and his buffs and debuffs, it allows you to change whatever you want about it Want to play in 2034 with giant barney dinossaurs facing t-rex? There is a mod for that. Want to play in antiquity? Mod for that. Want to play in the elder scrolls universe? Mod! Witcher? Mod! Lord of the Rings! Mod! That stupid ass clunky engine was so modifiable it actually made the game fucking ethernal! I was mind blown by this... I realized i just rebought a 10 dollar game that is worth more in content than 5,000 dollars of games. Its fucking insane! The game is so simple, so idiotic, so stupid and so half assed that it gave us the possibiltiy to make great things with it. And thats bizarre as fuck Hell if my points dont convince you. There is even a THREE KINGDOMS MOD for med 2 which is arguably more sandbox-y than the fucking 60 dollars game!
Hey guys, I’m a fan of the series for a while now. I’ve mostly played shogun2, Rome 2 and Atillia. I tried to play the medieval one and didn’t care for it. I mostly just enjoy the campaign map and I skip battles some I’m looking for the one with the best campaign options. People have said warhammer 1 and 2, but I know there have been a couple other new ones like three kingdoms. I like the historical aspect and if they had a WW2 game I’d love it. Any suggestions?
