Destructoid - Chris Carter - 10 / 10
To be clear, I'd still wholly recommend this version of 3D World even without Bowser's Fury. The tweaks are small overall, and Bowser's Fury isn't going to sate the most hardcore of Mario fans looking for a brand new game, but the package as a whole is magical. If you were one of the many who missed out on this Wii U classic, fix that.
Digitally Downloaded - Matt Sainsbury - 5 / 5 stars
An exceptional first release for Nintendo in 2021
GamesBeat - Mike Minotti - 5 / 5 stars
You can play a lot of 3D Mario games on your Switch. Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is just as good as any of them. It contains makes the Wii U game feel better than you remember, and the bonus campaign makes the package one of the best ports Nintendo has brought to the Switch.
God is a Geek - Adam Cook - 10 / 10
Despite multiplayer now being online, it still feels superfluous, but otherwise Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury might just be one of those fabled "perfect" games.
Nintendo Life - Chris Scullion - 10 / 10
Super Mario 3D World remains one of the better linear Mario games, and anyone playing it for the first time is in for an absolute treat. Add to that the curious bonus adventure that is Bowser's Fury and you've got a package that provides great value for money. It isn't without its flaws, but most of these (online multiplayer, repetitive missions in Bowser's Fury) relate to the new additions; the main game itself remains as pure and perfect as it was seven years ago. Had it just been Super Mario 3D World on its own, we'd be thoroughly recommending it anyway; Bowser's Fury is just the cherry on top.
VG247 - Alex Donaldson - 5 / 5 stars
Bowser’s Fury is a short experience – it’ll take a competent player a couple of hours to see all it has to offer, and a few hours more to drive it all the way to 100% completion – but it’s completely worthwhile. It has some great surprises, which is why I talk about it in such generalized terms. Bowser’s Fury would’ve made a great download-only, budget-price stand-alone – so as a bonus included with an already excellent game, its value can’t really be overstated.
Atomix - Alberto Desfassiaux - Spanish - 98 / 100
The best way to play on of the greatest Mario's games. Also, Bowser's Fury is an ambitious expansion with a lot of new ideas.
PowerUp! - Leo Stevenson - 9.8 / 10
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury is a showcase of the game design mastery which has made Nintendo the best in the business.
Nintendo Blast - Eduardo Comerlato - Portuguese - 9.5 / 10
Super Mario Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is a package that offers two different ways to experience one of the best 3D Mario adventure, making it ideal for the franchise’s 35th anniversary celebration. There is no doubt that the game is a two-way diversion, able to preserve elements of the past and paint majestic novelties around it, as Bowser Jr. does with his paintbrush in the new and fascinating Bowser’s Fury.
SECTOR.sk - Matúš Štrba - Slovak - 9.5 / 10
Super Mario 3D World is still great, fun and really rich in content. Bowser's Fury adds new layers of gampleay inspired by Sunshine to enjoy.
The Games Machine - Stefano Calzati - Italian - 9.5 / 10
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury is an explosive pack. 3D World returns with an improved pace, while retaining the stellar gameplay that characterized it when it first launched, and of course being still as hilarious as it was back then. Bowser's Fury takes the lesson a step further, creating a small and dense open world that will put you to the test with a sense of urgency unlike any other Super Mario game. The result, needless to say, is pure, unadulterated joy.
Game Informer - Brian Shea - 9.3 / 10
This package combines tried-and-true gameplay and level design with unique concepts (plus an all-new game) to earn its place among the elite games in the franchise
Hobby Consolas - David Martinez - Spanish - 93 / 100
It´s not one, but two great platformers for Nintendo Switch. One of the greatest Wii U games (with improvement such as online multiplayer and photo mode) and a new Mario 3D game, not as big and ambitious as previous games, but equally fun and full of surprises.
Spaziogames - Valentino Cinefra - Italian - 9.3 / 10
If you love platforming (and cats) this is an absolute gem.
Video Chums - A.J. Maciejewski - 9.2 / 10
Super Mario 3D World is an excellent game so if you still haven't played it or simply want it on Switch, this will make a wonderful addition to your gaming library. Oh, and you also get a fantastic bonus game with Bowser's Fury so how could you go wrong?
Wccftech - Rosh Kelly - 9.1 / 10
Super Mario 3D World shows why Mario is an ageless franchise, with the seven-year-old game providing fresh fun and a delightful experience. Bowser's Fury is the exact opposite, showing just how exciting and experimental the series can be.
Critical Hit - Brad Lang - 9 / 10
Super Mario 3D is a great game to play solo or with friends and shows off some of Nintendo's best level design yet, while Bowser's Fury is an inventive take on the Mario formula that's more generous with its content than it ought to be. Both games make for a fantastic bundle and should be checked out by fans and non-fans alike.
GameMAG - Александр Копанев - Russian - 9 / 10
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury for Nintendo Switch effectively handles two important tasks: introducing new players to the classic game that came from the Wii U, as well as pleasing hungry fans with new great content. Definitely a must-play for all Super Mario fans!
GameSpew - Kim Snaith - 9 / 10
Aside from some repetition between the two titles, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is a joy from start to finish.
GameSpot - Steve Watts - 9 / 10
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury packages one of the best recent Mario games with a delightfully odd new experience.
Gameblog - Thomas Pillon - French - 9 / 10
Thans to its many clever tweaks, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury give the player many reasons to enjoy a great 3D platformer, now a little bit faster, and with friends around the globe online. Let's not forget Bowser's Fury, a tiny open world adventure which rightfully mixes gameplays from the Wii U and Switch episodes, and delivers a strong experience with a twist.
GamesRadar+ - Sam Loveridge - 4.5 / 5 stars
Quirky, creative, and constant good fun, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury blends Mario gameplay old and new with great success, creating a title that feels worthy of his 35th birthday celebrations.
IGN Italy - Mattia Ravanelli - Italian - 9 / 10
Simple and immediate, beautiful to see and fun even in multiplayer, Super Mario 3D World is the "what if" of the history of Super Mario. But with obvious limitations compared to Super Mario Odyssey and the other chapters in 3D. Bowser's Fury tries to beat new paths, without avoiding a few slips.
Metro GameCentral - 9 / 10
One of the best modern Super Mario titles is made that little bit better and accompanied by a brand-new game that bends the formula in new and exciting ways.
NintendoWorldReport - Neal Ronaghan - 9 / 10
If you've never played 3D World before or haven't touched it since the Wii U days, this is well worth the price of admission. Prospects get a little tougher if you're not interested in going through 3D World, because while Bowser's Fury is amazing, it's still approximately less than 10 hours of gameplay even if you do everything. But no matter what: Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury might be one of the strongest Mario games available on Switch. The base game is fun and varied, while Bowser's Fury offers a distinctive, inventive, and superb open-world 3D Mario experience.
PCMag - Jordan Minor - 4.5 / 5 stars
Super Mario 3D World is an incredible and underplayed Wii U adventure that's now available on Switch. But Bowser’s Fury steals the show with its exciting and fresh take on a 3D Mario game.
Press Start - Shannon Grixti - 9 / 10
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury is a fantastic package that showcases what makes Nintendo games so special. Super Mario 3D World is just as good as when it released, and Bower's Fury is a surprisingly good standalone adventure that paves the way for the future of Mario.
Screen Rant - Riley Little - 4.5 / 5 stars
Bowser's Fury adds so much to the Wii U port.
Stevivor - Ben Salter - 9 / 10
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is a delightful double act. Super Mario 3D World holds up well, and offers a unique multiplayer experience that works particularly well on Switch. Its opening worlds are designed to cater for that varied audience, while the second half injects some much needed difficulty and is best played solo. Bowser’s Fury is experimental in nature, and offers something completely different with a fully open world housing plenty of Shines to collect at a rapid pace. While neither quite reaches the dizzying heights of Super Mario Galaxy or Odyssey, it is a double dose of Mario doing things differently, and a fitting finale to Super Mario’s 35th anniversary.
The Digital Fix - Stephen Hudson - 9 / 10
Near-perfect platforming, gorgeous visuals and a joy-filled soundtrack make Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury one of the best Mario titles of all time, and an essential purchase for all Switch owners.
TheGamer - Dave Aubrey - 4.5 / 5 stars
Ultimately, Super Mario 3D World, in this package, is the best that game has ever been, with the increased speed and ease of multiplayer access making it far more enticing than ever before. Bowser’s Fury, meanwhile, is essentially the Super Mario Odyssey DLC that never was. It feels like Odyssey’s level and game design sensibilities, but placed in the Super Mario 3D World game engine, with all of the power-ups and quirks that game has to make something truly unique. Putting both of these games in one package is the best decision that Nintendo has made in a long while, as Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is one of the best Mario offerings available on Nintendo Switch, which is lofty praise given the existence of Super Mario Maker 2. Now it just needs the option to play again, but as Luigi.
TheSixthAxis - Jason Coles - 9 / 10
I can't really recommend Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury enough. Whether you've played the original game before or not, the addition of online multiplayer is a big win, while Bowser's Fury is a testament to just how pure a Mario game can be while still feeling fresh and exciting. Put simply; this is an essential game for Mario fans.
TrustedReviews - Jade King - 4.5 / 5 stars
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury is both a welcome return for a platforming classic and a novel expansion of what made the game so special back on the Wii U. There's a solid chance that millions of players missed out on its excellence back in 2013, so now is the perfect time to take it for a spin.
Twinfinite - Chris Jecks - 4.5 / 5
The real star of the show, however, was Bowser’s Fury, which innovates on the foundations laid by previous 3D titles, to provide some of the most enjoyable, open-world platforming I’ve had the pleasure of playing. This is a must-buy for Switch owners and Mario fans alike and is sure to tide you over the next couple of months.
IGN Spain - David Soriano - Spanish - 8.8 / 10
Super Mario 3D World has aged quite well. It is still a very enjoyable adventure, updated in its rhythm and different enough from Super Mario Odyssey for those who came to Switch without going through Wii U to discover it. The big surprise is Bowser's Fury, which transcends the concept of simple DLC and adds mechanics and novelties of epic dimensions.
AusGamers - Kosta Andreadis - 8.6 / 10
It's also as strange as Mario's team-up with a sentient hat that for some reason lets him Being John Malkovich a dinosaur.
COGconnected - James Paley - 80 / 100
These two titles offer distinct, yet familiar, Mario experiences.
Cubed3 - Az Elias - 8 / 10
Super Mario 3D World may not have had much added to it aside from an online function that is limited to only saving progress for the host, but it didn't necessarily need much else. Nintendo successfully found a way to evolve the 2D classics without going open world, and the result is one of the most consistently fresh and enjoyable games around, which, despite lacking the challenge of the NES games, has something for just about everyone. The bonus Bowser's Fury solo adventure is an absolute delight with a brilliant core idea that adds a crazy tension to Mario platforming, but it is hard to present a case for purchasing this pack just to play it. Whilst full of great content, it is too short-lived to feel worth the asking price, and really needs a standalone purchase option. When taking both games into account for those that have not played the original Wii U title, though, this is a cracking bundle of Mario goodness that encapsulates what everyone knows and still loves about the moustachioed hero after an enduring thirty-five years.
Daily Mirror - James Ide - 4 / 5 stars
Bowser's Fury offers some great new ideas and is much more than a simple DLC. It's a great Mario game in its own right, with enough to entice those who played 3D World before with a wholly new and compelling experience, as well as offering one of the most epic showdowns in Nintendo history.
Bowser's Fury is a great take on 3D Mario and finally makes Bowser the menacing villain he deserves to be. The game's only flaw is that it left me wishing there was more of it.
EGM - Michael Goroff - 8 / 10
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury is the Wii U port that Switch owners have been waiting for. Besides the inclusion of online multiplayer, 3D World is the same good game that players already experienced on the Wii U, and fans of the series who missed it the first time around will enjoy its hybridization of 2D and 3D Mario gameplay. But the highlight of the package is Bowser's Fury, a scaled-down but surprisingly robust mini 3D Mario game that actually takes some chances.
Enternity.gr - Leonidas Mastellos - Greek - 8 / 10
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury achieves its goal as a package and not as individual experiences
Guardian - Keza MacDonald - 4 / 5 stars
One of the brightest and cutest Mario games with a novel adventure as a side dish
Telegraph - Tom Hoggins - 4 / 5 stars
This Switch remaster of the Wii U outing for Nintendo's famous plumber comes with online co-op and the strangest Mario adventure yet
Washington Post - Jhaan Elker - 75 / 100
Even with the Bowser’s Fury miss, the content is worth it. If you want one of the best and most versatile multiplayer experiences to date for the Nintendo Switch, online or offline, go with Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury.
CGMagazine - Jordan Biordi - 7 / 10
I don’t think Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury annoys me as much as it did on the Wii U, since the Switch already has the best Mario ever made on it; and I do think there is fun to be had with these games, even though I find them to be fairly frustrating. I would still recommend them if you enjoyed the originals, or maybe wanted to play them with younger gamers. Even though I might not go back to it very often, I don’t regret the time spent with it.
IGN - Cam Shea - 7 / 10
Two solid platformers in one; neither of which approaches the franchise's most dizzying heights.
Ars Technica - Kyle Orland - Unscored
Bowser’s Fury works just fine as an added bonus packaged with an under-appreciated platforming gem from the Wii U era. If you’ve never played 3D World before, this is a great chance to catch up on a fresh take on 3D Mario design. If you’re mainly interested in Bowser’s Fury, though, maybe wait until the strong ideas get expanded into a full, standalone game.
Eurogamer - Martin Robinson - Recommended
3D World's feast of all things Mario is joined by a fittingly experimental, hugely enjoyable - if slightly scrappy - expansion.
Kotaku - Ian Walker - Unscored
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is essentially the same game on Switch that some of you may have experienced on Wii U. While there’s no denying that the new hardware can’t keep up with the game’s ambitions at times, this bundle is at its core another fantastic Mario experience.
Polygon - Chris Plante - Unscored
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is a fantastic double feature

Am I the only one who doesn't care about graphics?

Hello everyone,
I hope you are all doing well during this Covid-19 crisis and take care of all of your family and friends!
I have been a gamer since my young childhood, and I love them since it is a good way to relax when I am stressed. I will always defend video games for the positive effects they can have on our minds.

Why I am writing this?

I have noticed something really severe: most people now care only about graphics. They want to know which is the most powerful between PS5 and XBOX Series X. And they will buy only games with beautiful graphics. I am playing newer and older games, and I feel like why people care about graphics. I have been playing Super Mario World and Super Metroid on the Switch's SNES Online, and it was more rewarding and satisfying than most nowadays games I have been playing. By seeing how the gaming community behaves, I believe it tends to focus only on graphics and nothing else. When I want to buy a game, I don't even care about the graphics, and I have the feeling I am the only one who focuses on gameplay, music, art style, etc. Am I the only one?

The Delusion about FPS/Graphics

At least 20 or 30 FPS is good. I understand if someone wants to play at 60 FPS, but this should not be mandatory in my opinion. And then who cares about 120 fps or 240 fps? Your eyes don't even see the difference. I know sometimes games need some precise input so my best compromise would be 30 FPS for offline and relax games, and 60 FPS for online games with tournaments for example. I don't understand when people tend to buy the best resources for their PC. Games don't need 8K and 240 fps to be enjoyable. But yeah, this is your money and you do whatever you want with it, I am not your mother ;).

The most powerful is NOT the winner

If you look at each "war" generation console, the most powerful console always failed. But remember that there were never console war. Only one during Nintendo and SEGA during the beginning of the 1990s. Sony VS Microsoft is nothing compared to what happened then.

Graphics is different than Art Style

Don't confuse graphics and art style. the Pokémon series, or Zelda: Breath of the Wild, has awful graphics but an awesome art style. The games have bad graphics, but the character design, the level design, the way everything is drawn is beautiful. However, we are not talking about art style here.

People who tell me Graphics are important

If you are going to tell me graphics are essential because when you play, you need to look at a fantastic landscape. A video game is something you play through. If you just sit and look at the landscape, I'm sorry but this is not a video game since you are not playing, this is just panorama. This is not playing, you just watch beautiful pictures. Photography is different than video games, even both are considered art. I would ask you what is a video game for you? For me, a video game is the gaming interaction between the human and the video of a machine. No questions about graphics. This is called a video game, and not video watching or anything like that. If you need to look at beautiful backgrounds, you can go on Google Images, and look for high-resolution pictures (Settings > Advanced Research).

Games with bad Graphics are Bad?

My favorite question to beat the people who only care about graphics is: Why retrogaming exists if graphics are so important? This is not nostalgia or anything like that, I am born during the Gamecube/PS2 era and I didn't even know how the 1980s or the 1990s were in terms of video games. (I wish I could have been here when Final Fantasy VII and Pokémon Red/Blue were released). And can you tell why Minecraft is the best selling game of all time?

Conclusion

To conclude, of course, I agree this is cool if you have good graphics, but people need to stop worship graphics and giving all of their attention to this instead of focusing on gameplay, music, etc. This should not be a criterion to define the quality of a game in my opinion. Can someone tell me this is just me who is a toxic hater, or if someone feels like me? Maybe I am just stupid so I would like that someone can correct the wrong things that I believe in.
Thanks a lot for reading my very long message and have fun playing the wonderful video games we can have in 2021! Remember video games are the most prolific media, far ahead of the cinema or the books.
TL;DR: Am I the only one who is noticing people only care about graphics? I want to know if I am just a toxic hater who doesn't understand what the gaming industry needs right now, or if I am on the contrary smart enough to understand video games are not based only on graphics.

All known info about CC: Remastered Edition - IF YOU GOT QUESTIONS CHECK THIS TOPIC FIRST!!!

UPDATED ON 08/31/2020

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition

Release date: 08/27/2020 (worldwide) Release Trailer
Platforms: PS4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android
Price:
The PlayStation Store pre-orders will include a special PlayStation 4 theme featuring artwork and music from the original game. For now you can NOT get this theme unless you pre-ordered!
Japanese Box art: PS4 - Switch
Official Website:
The PS4 and Switch versions only have a physical edition in Japan. Two warnings if you are planning on importing:
1) The game will be completely in Japanese with no English option.
2) The game is region locked! This mean that even if your PSN/Switch account is from the region that you want to play with, it will still check the game region and match you with those people. This eliminates the chance for players with different game regions to play together unless Square Enix engineers some work-around. Read further ahead for complete clarification!!!
There is also a light version of the game for iOS/Android & PS4/Switch. This version can be downloaded and played for free TO A CERTAIN EXTENT:
1) Single play up to the end of the first in-game year (three dungeons). Online multiplay for up to four players up to the end of the first in-game year (three dungeons) along other free version players and full game owners. Cross-platform functionality lets you form parties with players across different platforms.
2) You can join up with people who have the full version of the game and play up to 13 dungeons, this way you are not limited to just the first 3. You wont get any "end of year" celebrations this way. Your chalice simply reverts back to 2/3rds full. The game also mentions you can't get more than 2 drops of myrrh.
3) WARNING: Lite players can't craft master's weapons, and it seems like Lite players miss out on all craft-able accessories, if being unable to craft the flame/frost/thunder craft's is any indication. The crafters don't even list them as options. So for a casual play-trough this is not a problem. But if you plan on playing like years 8-9 and so on it's best that you just buy the game.

Features confirmed for the Remastered Edition:
Bonus questions:
To clarify further; GAME REGION ≠ ACCOUNT REGION
The region is locked to the GAME. NOT your ACCOUNT!!! So if you want to play together with someone from across the world get the GAME from the same region. So visit the same PSN/Switch store region to buy the game. Or import the game both from Japan (warning Japanese text if importing). So you're PSN/Switch account region has zero influence when booting the game, but it is important when buying the game.

GLITCH WARNING!!!:
MAKE BACKUP SAVES OF YOUR GAMES! There is a glitch that can lock you permanently in Tipa Peninsula on Year 2. This may not be the only glitch that could ruin your save file. You have 4 save slots, so make at least 1 copy.
The glitch: After beating Goblin Wall online and changing their chalice to Fire, Goblin Wall disappeared and their chalice was reverted to Water. The miasma stream element was fire, locking them in Tipa Peninsula. They tried visiting all of the area's locations and beating River Belle Pass, online and offline, and restarting the software. Goblin Wall did not return, nor was there any in-game record they'd beaten it.
The fix: None. Do not play Goblin Wall online on Year 2. Beat it solo. If you have already beaten it solo you are safe to host it online past year 2.
What probably causes the glitch:
  1. The host must be on year 2 and disconnect and rejoin during the ready up phase before the dungeon begins.
  2. The second player must be on year 1 (in this case they were playing the lite version). For charity sake there were 3 players and 2 & 3 were both on the lite version.
  3. No player received moogle mail on the first clear, meaning that I was not the host at the end of the dungeon.
  4. The chalice reset to water, but we theorize it might have given the host to player 2 who does not have year 2 or goblin wall available. So it inherited? Their chalice I don't know. 5. This occurred again when rejoining mid dungeon with player 2 being a lite player.

Transcript of Q&A from Jared's birthday stream

Since I'm not sure if Jared will convert the Q&A part of his birthday Twitch stream (https://www.twitch.tv/videos/724287532) into a YouTube video, I thought it might be worth transcribing his answers for the sake of posterity. I also included a few random answers he had given outside the Q&A, but I'm not about to go over all 16hrs of footage to write them all down (feel free to add any good ones I missed, though). Also to save time, I'm not going to include the Twitch handles asking the questions, but you can easily go back and look over the Q&A section yourself to find them (time stamp from 7:31:16-8:32:20):
  1. Favorite types of shoes to wear?: I don't know. Not sneakers; I'm not a sneaker guy. And I also don't like Converse.
  2. What would you consider a retirement to streaming in Youtube?: That's actually something I've thought about a lot. I've also mentioned this before, but I've talked about this with all of my friends who do the same thing [...] we can't keep doing this forever. Like, I cant be 40-45 still talking about Zelda or Final Fantasy or whatever. Like at some point this doesn't work anymore.... And what's really really weird about that and what's scary, is that we're just doing this, but none of us knows what the light at the end of the tunnel is. Unless your'e someone who [...] has already made so much money that it doesn't matter... I'm not that... I don't know.
  3. First video game you remember playing?: Lady Bug on ColecoVision
  4. Favorite moment from high school? (asked by one of his childhood best friends): You and me skipping band practice to go in the hallway behind the theater and play Magic was pretty good. I actually talked about our Pirates of the Caribbean sword fight a little earlier... that was kinda cool too.
  5. Is there a game you hated but later came around to eventually like?: Final Fantasy 7. I was very anti-FF7 when it came out because it wasn't Nintendo anymore and it was barely fantasy, it was sci-fi, but now it's actually pretty good.
  6. Do you think you'll ever regain the followers you lost?: No, I won't. It's been a year and I'm still losing. Like, it hasn't gotten better, it's not repairing; I'm still hemorrhaging followers on every platform- EVERY platform. It's kind of it for me. (chat then sends love)
  7. Are you still working on a review for Final Fantasy 8?: Yeah I am. Still working on it. I took like a week off from streaming which I was going to use to make the FF8 video, but I used that to take care of a lot of life stuff.
  8. Least favorite color to play in Magic: Green, usually
  9. Would you stream something like Aerobiz again?: I don't know, maybe.
  10. Are you considering reviewing Vampire: The Masquerade?: I actually don't really know the Vampire universe all that much. I know that new game is coming out and that's supposed to be pretty cool. Maybe that. But I never played much Vampire, tabletop or otherwise.
  11. What's the story behind the ProJ_feet emote?: If you're a tier2 sub, you have access to ProJ_feet, which, everyone does the ProJ_hands emote, like you know, the 'Pepe hands', but I also got feet. Put them together in one row... hilarious.
  12. What's your favorite Dragonball Z game?: The DS RPG one... Attack of the Saiyans.
  13. What's the first game you purchased and do you still own it?: The first game I purchased with my own money was either Goldeneye or Starfox 64. Starfox is weird because I'm pretty sure that was a pooled amount of money between me and my brothers, but Goldeneye *I* bought.
  14. Have you played Stardew Valley?: Yeah I played 1.4 on Switch.
  15. From the Madden-17 review do you actually not like the Packers or were you just trolling friends from back home?: Oh, I don't care. That was kind of a dig at how much people love the Packers, and just playing the fact that I am from Green Bay. I've done comedy shows for the Packers. But I also played as the Vikings in that video, because of my dad; my dad really loves the Vikings. So that was like a little nod to my dad.
16a) Would you do a multiplayer stream at some time?: I would love to do a multiplayer stream; I'm kinda having a hard time getting people to do multiplayer stuff with me. I mean like I got my close friends who I always like to do stuff with. But I've always liked the idea of doing like a weekly stream that's um - where it's like hey, every week at this time, there will always be a group of streamers, all of them streamers, all playing something together, for pretty much a couple of hours. I've always thought that that would be cool, but I kinda get a hard time getting people to do that.
16b) What kind of multiplayer games would you stream?: With my friends, I've been playing Pulsar: Lost Colony, a lot lately. That's been super fun. I think that would be a fun stream. That would be great. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles? The multiplayer [...] is kinda fucked on it. Yeah, even just online stuff, like Marioland 64, or Mario Partys or whatever .... any of that would be cool.
17) Would you play Final Fantasy 14 with chat?: I wouldn't want to do it with chat. Cuz like I play FF14 with my close friends and I really enjoy it that way. But when you play it publically, and that many people are just like, following you around or walking up just trying to hand you 10 million gil or something, it's like, that's not how I want to enjoy my game. that's not how I want to do it.
18) Hydlide randomizer when?: I looked; one doesn't exist. The only Hydlide mods they have are basically patches to make it an easier game to play; like increasing health generation or increasing the amount of experience points you get.
19) Have you ever played System Shock 2?: No, I do own it though.
20) What are your thoughts on the Elder Scrolls series?: My favorite one is Daggerfall. I really liked Daggerfall. And I find myself less and less interested in the ES series as it goes on, because I've felt it kinda keeps going. The ocean keeps getting wider, but its depth keeps getting shallower.
21) Would you do more D&D content or even make a D&D show/podcast with your friends?: I've talked about this a little bit before, but I would only want to do another D&D stream or show or whatever if I could bring something new to the table, or go above and beyond what alot of other people are already doing. Because there are so many D&D stream shows out there, and the whole D&D bubble at some point is going to pop. So if I wanted to like to somehow get in on that, or do something new, or provide my own thing, like it's gotta be fuckin' really worth somethin', you know.
22) Are you excited about Final Fantasy 9 or 10 when you get to them?: Super excited for 9. I'm looking forward to 10 too, because I like playing 10.
23) What are your thoughts on the Matt Mercer effect? (after it's explained to him): Oh yeah, I get that. I mean that sucks. I feel that a lot of people who watch Critical Role then feel like, if they play D&D, they also have to be like this group of actors that can really perform, that just doesn't work. That doesn't happen.
24) With the pandemic have you been able to play D&D at all?: Yeah. Just been playing over Zoom, which is fine.
25) Do you know SomeCallMeJohnny?: I *do* know SomeCallMeJohnyy. I've gotten to meet him I want to say twice, it might have been just once. I know I bumped into him at TooManyGames Con. And I wish we got to chat a bit more.
26) Final Fantasy 12 OG or Zodiac Age?: Zodiac Age for sure. There's no reason to play OG FF12 when Zodiac Age exists.
27) What is your favorite Final Fantasy song?: Final Fantasy 6. Yep.
28) Would you come back to Green Bay for Kitsunekon?: I *would*. I don't foresee that happening though - just knowing the people who run Kitsunekon, and just knowing the individuals they keep in contact with.
29) Are you a cheese head?: No.
30) What color would you dye your hair?: Silver. I thought silver hair would be cool. Not like white or grey, but like a shiny silver. Or if I mixed it with some of my natural hair color, that would be cool. Or thief blue. I could do thief blue too. I dunno, the fad of Let's Players dying their hair has kinda come and passed.
31) Do you need to play Suikoden 1 before 2?: No you don't. Honestly just start with Suikoden 2, and then don't look back.
32) Mexican food or Italian food?: Italian food. I really like Italian food, especially red sauce Italian.
33) Roughly how many games do you have in your collection?: I dunno man... *some*. Yeah, some. I got some.
34) Do you ever watch any other YouTubers?: Yeah, sometimes. I got like my background noise channels I like to do. Obviously I watch all my friends - PBG, Jeff, Jirard. Any time those guys come out with new stuff, I'll watch that. Otherwise, Internet Comment Etiquette is a good time. I also really like RetroAhoy a lot. I think that guy does amazing stuff.
35) Do you think YouTube or Twitch is better for growing as a streamer?: Twitch is, by far.
36) Do you still chat with the Game Grumps?: No.
37) Have you ever watched Criken?: Um, I have before, I've also hung out with Criken a couple of times. Not one of those I typically join up and watch though.
38) Do you still play Pokemon Go?: I do! I just saw they put in the Mega evolution stuff yesterday.
39) Do you prefer physical or digital media?: Oh physical, absolutely. Like if I can own an actual physical thing, regardless of context, I want the thing.
40) Would you rather have two wives or two knives?: Oh, definitely two knives. Cuz let me tell ya, it's pretty great.
41) Would you stream Crystal Chronicles or Baldur's Gate 3?: Ideally both. I'm more excited for Baldur's Gate 3.
42) If you had to speed run one game right now, what would you pick?: I guess Mega Man X. If I had to pick a game to learn to speed run, I'd have to pick NES Metal Gear.
43) Is Pokemon TCG still in the pipeline?: It is, yeah. I didn't want to get to the Pokemon TCG 2, because I wanted to get to the Pokemon TCG first, and I've got other stuff to do.
44) Did you play Commander Keen on DOS?: I never did, actually. I played Duke Nukem 1 and 2, but for whatever reason Commander Keen just went right past me.
45) Is Suikoden 1 worthy of high praise?: It's pretty good, but Suikoden 2 is really the best one.
46) Did you ever play Snakes's Revenge on the NES?: I actually streamed and beat Snake's Revenge in like 2012 on Justin.tv. So I actually have streamed for and beat that game.
47) Do you intend to play Wastelands 3?: I actually watched Lilia play it and it looks pretty cool; I don't know if I'll get around to it. I haven't played Wastelands 1 or 2 at all.
48) Do you like your real name and would you change it if given the chance?: I'm fine with being Jared. I do think my last name is cumbersome, and if I had a better stage name for like, performance-wise, that might be a worthwhile idea.
42) Have you ever played the Rune Factory games?: I haven't. It looked cool though.
43) Did you play Diablo at all?: Yeah, I played Diablo 1, 2 and 3, and I very quickly learned I don't like Diablo, or those kinds of games. Just - they're super heavy loot-fest games. Not into it.
44) What N64 game do you have the most interest in talking about?: Hybrid Heaven. Or I'd also want to do Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage.
45) Did you ever play Runescape?: Never touched Runescape. Classic, current, whatever. I went straight to Ultima Online and Everquest.
46) What boardgames do you like to play?: The XCOM boardgame is my absolute favorite. I think the XCOM boardgame is goddam amazing.
47) What's your favorite game that's not an RPG?: Metal Gear Solid 3.
48) If you had a chance to play one MMO that is now offline, what would it be?: Star Wars Galaxies. Like, pre-combat patch Star Wars Galaxies. I would want to try that again.
49) Did you ever watch G4 TV?: Oh yeah, I watched a lot of G4 TV. Like pretty much anything I could watch. X-Play was like the one that everybody went kinda to, but I also liked Cinematech I thought was really cool, where they just showed game cinematics; I just thought that was fun to watch. I really liked - I can't remember the name of the show - I think it was just called Portal or something like that? - it was the just the MMO-machinima soap opera. That was kinda cool. Icons was cool. I didn't watch Code Monkeys, no. I know there's other shows on there that I didn't watch. Like I definitely watched more G4 before G4 and TechTV merged.
50) Favorite Magic card?: Craw wurm.
51) Descent Tabletop?: I mentioned Descent tabletop in one of my videos. I have not played it.
52) Have you ever played Betrayal at House on the Hill?: Not House on the Hill, but I have played Betrayal at Baldur's Gate, which is fundamentally the same thing; so I played that one.
53) What do you do to be happy?: What's your definition of happy? Because like, just to have a good time, and smile, and whatever, well then there's lots. Play games with my friends, like play Pulsar: Lost Colony ...play Call of Duty: Warzone with my buddies, that I'll have a good time with. Play some tabletop stuff with *them*. Now if you consider 'happy' being something like, feeling fulfilled, or that like, nothing is going wrong in your life, I don't have an answer.
54) Do you enjoy on any level trashy games, like Neptunia and Mary Skelter?: Nooo? Well, would you consider Max Gentleman Sexy Business trashy? I don't think it was that trashy. I actually found that to be incredibly tasteful and well done.
55) Did you ever play the Golden Sun games?: Yeah, I did. They're good.
56) Are you going to review the Metal Gear games?: Um, I'll maybe talk about the NES Metal Gear and Snake's Revenge, and the Game Boy Color one. A long time ago Catty and I were talking about collabing on - cuz he's also a big Metal Gear fan - we wanted to talk about the Metal Gear Game Boy Color game. I don't foresee that happening any more. It's a bummer.
57) What's a cool non-standard superhero power for a superhero RPG?: Falling asleep standing up, wherever you want.
58) Did you ever play Reboot for PS1?: No I didn't.
59) What's the Big Money sound from?: It's from Smash TV.
60) What's your dream vacation?: I want to go to a castle. Like, a real castle. Scotland, Ireland, Germany.
61) Any DM advice for helping new players feel more comfortable with roleplaying?: Lead by example, I think. If they see you kinda putting that guard down and willing to be silly, [it] will make them less afraid to be silly.
62) Are you still practicing photography?: No. Photography was not a hobby for me; it was an obligation.
63) What was your introduction to Monster Hunter?: Monster Hunter 1, PS2, launch day. I was OG.
64) How'd you get into the Monster Rancher series? Uh, I only ever played like 1 or 2, I think it was the first one.
65) have you played Gloomhaven?: I *have* played Gloomhaven.
66) Have you played Dragon View for the SNES: Dragon View sucks! wait... no, Dragon View was cool, Drakkhen sucked. Dragon View was tight.
67) How do you feel about what happened in Final Fantasy 14 Shadowbringers?: Uh, I haven't touched Shadowbringers so I couldn't tell ya. I still need to finish Stormblood. I suck.
68) Do you have a videogame crush?: Most video game people. Everyone from Final Fantasy 14. All of em. Pick one. Especially the characters that I make. Especially the ones my friends play.
69) Thoughts on Legend of Legaia?: Legaia is another one I'd want to talk about at some point. Legend of Legaia has such a cool concept for a battle system that immediately loses its luster once you kinda discover all the secret techniques. Like once you discover everything, it just becomes cumbersome and requires extra inputs. Up until that point tho, super cool.
70) If you had to start a business, what would it be?: I want to start a business that is an office dedicated to [...] providing sets for high-end tabletop stuff for myself, some close friends I know who'd want to do it with me, and for anyone else who'd want to come up and rent it, in such a way that it allows for stuff that's not just D&D.
71) Have you ever considered making your own card game?: Yes, it's something I've been thinking about since last year.
72) Have you ever heard of Cosmic Encounter?: No, I don't think I have.
73) Favorite Mario Kart?: Double Dash, easy.
74) Have you talked to Chris Perkins in a while?: Yeah, all the time.
75) Have you ever played the Iron Claw System?: Nope, don't know that one, sorry.
76) Have you played D&D Warrior of the Eternal Sun for Sega?: I have. Made my whole party, got them equipped in town, took three steps outside and got killed by snakes. Sounded like AD&D all right.
77) Do you still talk to anyone from Dice, Camera, Action?: Yeah, all of 'em.
78) Do you have a favorite Sim City Game?: I mean, I default to the NES one, just because of its simplicity and nostalgia factor. I still never got around to playing City Skyline. I heard that was really good; I should check it out.
79) What Magic formats do you play?: Limited, Standard and Pioneer.
80) Would you ever want to move to a different country or state?: Those are completely different things. Another country? Depends on if this one keeps going to shit. Another state? I don't know if I'd want to do another state. I actually really like Washington. I would move to like, idk, Jeff's been talking about moving to Idaho. It looks pretty cheap.
81) Breakfast or lunch?: Uh, breakfast. I typically don't have lunch.
82) Favorite D&D spell?: Sticks to snakes.
83) How do you like your eggs?: Scrambled. I don't like them any other way to be honest. Like just the yolk on its own feels gross to me, but mixed with the whites, it's really good.
84) Did you ever play Kingdoms of Amalur or the online TCG Hex?: Uh, both. I was a backer of Hex. And I was immediately upset at it when it was very clear that it was just a ripoff of Magic. And I didn't want to play another Magic. I wanted to play something else.
85) Did you ever play any MOBAs?: I played Smite. I haven't touched Smite in like 6 years.
86) What are some of your TV show recommendations?: What we do in the Shadows. Watch that.
87) Favorite Crystal Chronicles race?: Selkie.
88) Favorite game of 2020?: Uh, idk. Doom, probably?
89) Any special reason for the beard?: Kinda. I thought maybe if I physcially changed myself, it would somehow distance myself from who I was. Because I don't want to be who I was any more. And maybe the people who didn't like who I was would be a little bit more receptive to who I *am*.
90) Favorite MTG set?: Invasion.
91) Will you be streaming Star Wars Squadrons?: Idk. Maybe. I'm sure I'll check it out. Stream it? Idk.
92) Do you like your chat base?: I think so, yeah. I mean, whenever I'm streaming I like to see the familiar faces in chat. Something I always try to do is [...] I don't want to just treat chat like it's a viewer. It's the same goal with the gameplay channel. I'm not performing for you. I'm your buddy sitting next to you on the couch, hanging out with you. That's the goal at least. It doesn't always work, but I try.
93) What makes it all worth it for you?: F*cking cash money dude! Hell yeah, get paid!
94) Smash main?: Just adult Link, cuz I'm boring. I haven't touched Smash in a long time.
95) Favorite house in Fire Emblem 3 Houses?: Blue lion.
96) Would you ever do D&D one-shots with subscribers?: No. I would not be comfortable doing that. Like, playing something like D&D together, there already has to be a certain level of trust there, and quite frankly, I don't have that trust with people I don't know. And sure, I might recognize some of your names, that could help, but I don't know you; you may know *me* really really well. But I don't know if I'd be comfortable with that. I *might* do it in a charity setting, if it was like at a convention, and people can purchase tickets or bid on tickets, I would do it that way. I would just run some pre-made thing for whoever.
97) Do you prefer cooperative or competitive gaming?: Oh, cooperative by far. I'm a sucker for anything co-op.
98) Favorite 'What we do in the Shadows' character?: Probably just Nandor. But what they've been doing with Guillermo is kinda amazing. I thought they were under-utilizing Laszlo for a long time, but then they did some of the best Laszlo episodes with Jackie Daytona.
99) Did you ever play the Monkey Island series?: I never did, surprisingly.
100) Do you prefer custom or preset characters in games?: Custom. Always custom.
101) Did you ever play any of the Mario and Luigi games?: Yeah, I've played all of 'em. Bowser's Inside Story is the best one. I didn't get as into the last ones though; the Dream Team or the Paper Jam I didn't get into either.
102) Any food that you hate?: Spicy things.
103) Have you kept in touch with anyone from Screw Attack?: Um, just Sam pretty much. Sometimes I'll see Nick in other peoples' streams but no one I really keep in touch with. Favorite moments? Idk. I liked doing Newsroom.
104) Least 3 favorite Pokemon?: Dunsparce, Nosepass, and Bidoof. I will not be taking questions at this time!
105) Would you do a Let's Play of Tactics Ogre?: Probably not. I played it and liked it though; PSP one. It was cool.
106) I just spilled water on myself, what should I do?: Give up, it's over. Sorry man. Accept your fate.
107) Are you interested in the Warhammer universe?: Not at all, doesn't do it for me. I did play Vermintide; Vermintide was a fun game. But I'm not really into the Warhammer universe.
108) Who designed your Twitch emotes?: The majority were done by Katrinaface; couple of them were done by Palletomancer.
109) Any plans for you and Jadale doing another co-op game in the future?: At some point, probably. I've been playing Pulsar with them; Baldur's Gate 3 seems like an inevitability. He also just had a baby, so he's busy - and basically dead to me. *straight face*
110) What webcam do you use?: I don't use a webcam. This is actually a multi-thousand dollar camcorder hooked up into my computer.
111) Are you planning on returning to Final Fantasy 14?: Yes.
112) Do you use beard oil?: No, should I? Do I need it? Has to get longer first? Yeah, I'm trying to keep it short intentionally.
113) Have you played all the Ace Attorney games?: I have. I love the Ace Attorney series a lot.
114) What are your thoughts on Shin Magami Tensei?: I don't know, there's like series within that series - you need to be more specific. As a whole, in terms of its monsters and spells and all that, it's ok, it's not my favorite. I definitely prefer Final Fantasy or Dragonquest over it.
115) How's your relationship with Normal Boots?: Great. I still talk to all of them regularly.
116) Favorite Suikoden 2 character?: Flik.
117) Would you ever do any co-op videos again? Yeah, absolutely. I would love to. Again, it's just being able to arrange that to record on not just my time but on their time to make it worthwhile for the other person, that's all stuff I try to stay cognizant of.
118) Would you pick up Max Gentleman or FTL for a second run?: Not Max Gentleman, but I did get that Captain's mod for FTL in case I wanted to play that on stream - I wasn't anticipating us going straight into a billion subscribers and having to play Zelda randomized, but here we are.
119) Played Outer Wilds?: I did play Outer Wilds. It was ok.
120) Are you having issues with your Final fantasy 8 video?: Sort of. I find myself dragging my feet on working on it because I am not enthusiastic on talking about it; especially because people are anticipating an eloquent evisceration. And there's kind of an expectation there. Like I've had so many other ideas that I thought would be way more fun that I actually got enthusiastic about. But right now FF8 is the obligation.
121) What's the first new console you're going to buy?: Idk, maybe PS5. I'm not really looking forward to either one at launch.
122) Is there any video you've put up that you feel is below your standard of quality?: Yes. The FF7 video should have been better. FF6 video - *good*, could have been better. Marble Madness I kinda shat out; I was on a time crunch for that one. Um, pretty much any of the ones when I was really sad - so whenever that 3 to 4 year gap is - all of those.
123) Favorite video you've done?: Toss up between FF6 and Sonic Adventure 2.
124) Do you find streaming difficult?: Um, it can be, because it's basically not just performing but performing for hours on end. And that can get very tiring. Honestly, what I find to be more difficult is how it makes me feel afterwards, because I'll typically like want to stream something, and then I'll usually tell myself, after I'm done with the stream, then I can go and work on other stuff. But usually after I'm done with the stream I'm so exhausted that I'm like, I'm done. I can't do anything else.
125) Was there a game that at first glance seemed interesting but the plot or mechanics infuriated you?: Yeah, Final Fantasy 13.
126) Who was an inspiration to start YouTube?: Uh, let me think of specific names. It's like... NostagliaCritic, uh... I can't remember their names; it's like, a couple dozen other people [...] not in being an inspiration, but more in that if they can do it, I could do it better. This is poopy-ass garbage; they don't know how to write, and I thought I could do it better. I'll let you know when I succeed.
127) Any good recent D&D stories? [13:17:45]: I'm a mindflayer. I'm sucking brains.

The Switch requiring a weekly check-in to play NES games doesn't mean what you think it means. It's a lot more benign than people are freaking out about.

I posted this article from Eurogamer earlier today, which lead to a lot of people being very confused.
So far I've encountered and corrected five people who thought it worked this way, so there's definitely more.
What a lot of people think it means:
If you don't play your Switch at least once every week you lose access to the NES games forever!
What it means:
If your Switch disconnects from Wi-Fi, you can play your NES games offline for a week, after which you have to "check-in" by connecting it to Wi-Fi again. After that you can play offline for another week.
I mean, it's not the best thing in the world, sure. But it's not as scary as people are making it out to be.

Do you intend to subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online? (with straw poll)

So as we all know, Nintendo Switch Online is launching this September: https://www.nintendo.com/switch/online-service/
Will you be subscribing? Please vote once in the straw poll as I'm curious to see what the consensus is in the Nintendo Switch community. Straw Poll: http://www.strawpoll.me/16352085
My personal take on this is as follows:
TL;DR I won't be subscribing to Nintendo Switch Online, as even at its low price point, it doesn't seem worth it to me at this time. I may change my mind when further details are revealed or when Super Mario Maker hits the shelves (if it needs NSO). What about you?

NES Games Are Good for Maximizing Playtime Away from Power

The Nintendo Entertainment System games don't use much power. The NES games are part of the benefits of Nintendo Switch Online membership. Their low power usage means longer playtime with the Switch. It also means a cheaper USB-A power bank will keep up and even charge the Switch while you play these retro games.
Charge Test
My Switch started with a 60% charge (needs to be under 80% to induce max power draw rate). Screen brightness was at max, Wi-Fi connected, and the Joy-Cons (near 100%) connected.
I connected my Anker PowerCore 10000. It outputs up to 7.5W to the Switch.
Then I played several NES games over 30 minutes. The individual games played don't matter. The NES app itself is the big variable. Each game is a data file it executes.
Results
I averaged a 2% gain in charge every 10 minutes. This rate would slow down once the Switch hit 80% charge, but the internal battery would continue to gain charge up to 100%.
Conclusion
For anyone trying to maximize their Switch uptime the NES games provide a viable option. Their low power usage allows a cheaper USB-A power bank to provide more than enough power. As they drain the Switch's battery less than other games any power bank's capacity will go further.
You can play the NES games offline. The app does need to check in with Nintendo every 7 days to verify your NSO membership. But between check ins you can play while offline for 7 days. After that the Switch will disable the NES games until it connected to the Internet.
Bonus: Cheat Codes!
During my testing I found some old cheat codes will work. I used the Konami Code on Gradius, which gave me full upgrades. The Ghosts n Goblins stage select code also worked.

State of Switch Week in Review 4/16 - 4/23

Hi Everyone. Here is this week's State of Switch review. As always, let me know how I can improve this and take it further - I read every single comment and am happy to make live edits.

Last Week's Releases

Game Name Price (USD/CAD) Price (Euro/AUD) Publisher Metacritic Notes
Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap 19.99 / 26.79 19,99 €/ 26.00 DotEmu 78
Fatal Fury: King of Fighters 7.99 / 9.87 6,99 €/ 9.10 Hamster Corporation 50
Minna De WaiWai! Spelunker (Japan) 49.58 / 65.94 † 46.63 €/ 65.32 † Square Enix N/A Japanese text only
Note 1: Japanese game sites do not aggregate their scores like Metacritic, so Minna de WaiWai Spelunker does not have a Metacritic average. However, there is a free demo for you to try on the Japanese eShop! Also, I think the game is one of the best games on the Switch - if you trust my opinion.
Note 2 †: Japanese exclusive game prices are based on today's conversion rates from Yen.

This Week's Kickstarter Highlight

Super Plexis

13 days remaining (Switch version at $20,000 stretch goal)
"Inspired by games like Tetris Attack, Puzzle League, and Meteos: a twist on the puzzle fighter formula with classic 16-bit SNES flair!"
My Take: What a week for Puzzle games between Tetris, Soldam (in English - see below) and now a Kickstarter puzzler to round out the theme this week. I can't get enough multiplayer puzzle action, and this game looks like a great fit for the platform and tabletop play. This is a re-launched Kickstarter and I feel their goals are modest and should be met.

  • Could the cancellation of the NES/Famicom Classic be signaling Virtual Console is near? This was discussed across several threads this week.
My Take: It's certainly possible. My personal belief is that the NES classic was conceived when it was clear the WiiU was a financial failure and Nintendo wanted to bridge the revenue gap knowing the Switch couldn't be out until Spring of 2017 (I've talked, in the past, that I also believe they intended the Switch for fall of 2017 and moved it up). Knowing this, and seeing the rumors around the time the NES Classic launched that it was going to be a limited run, I think it points to a success (since they sold through) that they no longer want on the market to compete with Virtual Console for the Switch when it eventually launches (presumably later this year). For all we know VC was actually ready but they are spacing it out based on Nintendo's very transparent strategy of spacing out their big content to constantly feed gamers over time. Related: How the rumored SNES classic could impact VC sales. I don't think we're getting an SNES classic the same year we got the Switch, but I'd love to be wrong.

Look Ahead

We're almost there. It's Mario Kart week! For those of us that have never played MK8, or those who are dying to play again, the hype is very real for the biggest release since we bought the little console that could.
Reviews for the game have been stellar with an early Metacritic score of 94. We got confirmation that the Mercedes Benz DLC was in the game, that you could play with 4 players in tabletop mode, and that you could play online with friends AND strangers at the same time (though it's a bit clunky, as mentioned earlier). The battlemodes look fantastic, and I'm ready to give my life to this one.
This week I picked up Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap, and I have to say it is way better than I could have hoped. Old-school control mechanics don't bug me, especially in platformers. This game gave me everything I wanted from it and I'm loving it so far. Changing the graphics and music with the press of a button never seems to get old. I don't do reviews, but if I did I would give this game a 7.5/10.
Those of us that love platformers and weren't afraid to import Minna de WaiWai Spelunker were treated to another fantastic platformer this week. This one with 4-player simultaneous co-op both online and offline (split-screen). I'm absolutely LOVING this game. I took care of my younger siblings this week (7 and 11) while my parents were in Texas. I don't have a lot of toys at my house, but this game turned out to be all we needed. None of us speak Japanese and the game was easy to navigate and fun as hell. Again, I don't do reviews but this one is an 8.5/10. Shout out to Amazon Japan for getting me a game that launched on the 20th by the 21st overseas (technically 2 days with the date line but still awesome).
As mentioned earlier I also picked up Soldam and Kamiko, but I haven't had enough time with either to give them a fair shake. So I'll talk about them in the future.
Lastly I got an elgato capture card and, after finding out there wasn't any room to plug in an HDMI cable where I initially installed it, I shifted around all my PCI-e cards and finally got it going. I think something happened to my soundcard in the process because my PC speakers are acting a little funky. But the good news is I can capture screenshots and video for you guys in the future as I evolve this weekly column into something else! More on that at a later time.
Related to that... I know I teased a surprise last week. I'm going to need a bit more time on that because it became... ambitious. You'll know when I share it, but I don't have a great ETA right now. Just know I'm putting even more hours and effort into it than I do this weekly column - and trying to do both at the same time. So if you love this you will hopefully also love that.
Preorders for me this week included the yellow Joy-Con set (which finally ended up on Best Buy), Cave Story+ physical version, and the Sonic Mania CE that doesn't even come with a physical game... don't ask, I'm just a sucker for Sonic merch.
What did you pick up last week? What are you looking forward to this week?
Switch Tip of the Week: Curious how to buy games from the Japanese or other foreign eShops? Create a new Nintendo account and set Japan as the region. Then, to add money to the account, buy a digital eShop card for the region you want to buy from. I buy mine through Play-Asia because they don't require you to have a Japanese address like Amazon does. They email you the codes within 5 minutes of completing your purchase.
Game Tip of the Week: In Minna de WaiWai Spelunker make sure you try bombing every cave wall you find. Secrets aren't always obvious, but they are almost always rewarding. Since bombs are limited it may take more than one run through a level to check every wall.

10 things that MUST be added in super mario maker 2.

Hello! Super mario maker 2 is now revealed and alot of people were hyped about slopes, Super mario 3d world and even more features! Now I see that alot of people that people missed in trailer or wondering what it should be in super mario maker 2 by uploading videos. Nicobbq Decided to make 10 powerups or 10 blocks that should be added in super mario maker 2. So, Alot of people begin to make new ideas for super mario maker 2, But i have way more ideas that people did not asked for. Let's begin for the 10 things that must be added or removed from super mario maker 2.

1.Password

In Super mario maker for the wii u. if you want to find the right level, you have to type a password. Now, Passwords coming mostly to find on youtube for the level that people play and this does not happen always. Some people don't even care if they find a level that play and that they won't listen to the comments. I find that passwords should maybe be removed or reworked. if it was removed, replace it with a button for alot of stars, most played, old and underrated.

2.Launching Pipes. and P-Switches.

in New super mario bros DS, It is the first game to introduce launching pipes and launching pipes can go vertical or horizontal. Now let's see how in super mario maker 2 works. The pipe can decide if you want to make it go horizontal left or right or even vertical and going diagnonal. you can decide if you want to make mario launch how far you will and to add a detail for the mini mushroom. This was also included in super mario world, except they have different behaviours. P-Switches in New super mario bros Ds had alot of new things, Like getting blue coins, puzzles and that you could maybe perhaps use it multiple times, since not all people use pipes that often.

3.Add some powerups and maybe even baby yoshi's.

In super mario maker for the wii u. they had given many powerups, but also many has been cutted from super mario bros 3, super mario world and New super mario bros U. You can't just forget every powerup from the mario game series that makes it useful, Because that wouldn't make the game more handy. Now, Nintendo forget so many powerups that could be added like for example: Frog suit, hammer suit, tanooki suit, ice flower, penguin suit, acorn, mini mushroom P-Balloon, P-Acorn and P-Wing. Now speaking of baby yoshi's, why aren't they included in the first place? It is useful for flying sections, being in the darkness or even for higher jumps as mini mushroom.

4.New Features.

Super mario maker for the wii u could have more features and it was already alot. So i've decided that there could be more features by adding some help when you die alot in the game. For example: If you die 10 times in super mario bros 3, there is a powerup that will grant you the P-Wing at the begin or at the check point. It can be very useful in super expert mode or at troll levels. Same goes for the P-Acorn in New super mario bros U. Now, I like the feature that every new themes in each game series that you can choose, But i believe that they can have new textures also and that they should be brought back from super mario bros lost levels, super mario world and even the water at the super mario bros 3 world 8 navy. Now, i was hoping that you could also play the game offline so that you can continuely make levels, play levels from others and challenge some cpu players against your level or the others. This makes it alot easier when you have no connection for the internet.

5.Bring some enemies back.

So, Boom boom is added in super mario maker 2 and i think that it should be added also in every game series that you can choose. But also we miss some important enemies. For example:Koopalings, sumo bro, the crusher in New super mario bros U and even more enemies that should be added back. these enemies in the game series were good and i don't know why Nintendo still forget that. Why not add more enemies and overrated bosses? this makes the game more creative and challenging. But Nintendo should NOT add every bosses from the game series or else there might be a lack of scripting the enemies what to do.
6.Mulitplayer and online.

The first mario game to have multiplayer is mario bros 1983 on the NES. it became alot popular in other mario games and even in the other franchise itself. Now, when i actually hope Nintendo added multiplayer, i suggest it needs a rework. Now, Remember when you could throw your friends into the pit or jump on them? Those were the good times, but you also lose lives if you don't follow them and maybe Nintendo should add a feature that there will be a ghost mode that you can go through players but you can't grab them. This makes it easier when you want to play a level to let them do the work for you or for them. Now speaking of Online, i think it should be race against the players from worldwide. you can challenge to 20 players. However, if you reach first you can choose which amiibo you want in your amiibo collection in super mario maker. If you reach second, you can choose which powerup you want to make levels that you didn't had and if you reach third place or lower, you get randomly amiibo's and powerup's. So, it doesn't really matter if you lose actually. you get still some good rewards, However... it must be balanced even if there is not enough players to challenge. This makes super mario maker 2 even bigger than it should be.
7.Customize your textures, enemies and even their behaviour.
In super mario maker 1, we could make anything we want actually.Troll levels, automatic levels, easy levels, hard levels etc. So, people wanted to make actually recreation levels or from other games. That is why Nintendo should add new textures like i said before, enemies to let them what to do. People might be happy with it, so that the levels actually make sense like in the other franchise games or the level itself.
8.Make everything giant or small.
In super mario bros 3, it is the first game to introduce giant blocks, giant pipes and giant enemies.
This however, came also in later mario games and there was also small pipes so that mini mario can get in. Nintendo did not make everything giant back then. as we forgot the giant snake blocks, giant blocks and even the pipes itself.
9.Add every blocks and every platforms.
So, many mario games made new platforms, new blocks and super mario maker forgot some of them.
In New super mario bros Ds, you had platforms that goes horizontal large and then gets smaller every 5 seconds. You also had moving mushroom blocks. In super mario world, you had the text block,Which is the real reason why miiverse died and in New super mario bros U, we had leaves that can get you go up! Nintendo REALLY needs to add everything that has to do with the game series. But, that might take alot of time and i am sure that i think it is not enough time for 3-4 months.
10.Story
So, In most mario games. there are cutscenes that shows what it is the plan or that the bowser enemies are planning to do. Many people decided to also make a story like about when someone was kidnapped or that when a legend was born. Most people want to make a story also in super mario maker since not everyone checks the comment during a level, they just disable it. This is also perfect if you want to make a cutscene or make a entire movie by the way, But i think you need also learn how to program well. So, Nintendo must add how to do things also or how it works.

Man, This took a long time to make this and this is a great idea that makes super mario maker 2 even better than any other mario games, even the wii u itself. Do you think there are more ideas to be added in super mario maker? post your comments down below!

Switch Features/Accessories/Games Wishlist for this E3 season

Here’s my massive Nintendo Switch Dream-list for E3 before/during/after announcements for 2018-early 2019.
(Note, some of these are feasible and may very likely happen, while MANY others are pie-in-the-sky very unlikely, but I would love to have them.
You may not want some of these features—but then again, you don’t have to use them. Options to turn many of these off/hide them in settings would be an ideal compromise).
Which of these do you also hope for (even if they’re very unlikely)? Which don’t you ever want?
Again, *many of these are extremely unlikely to ever happen, * but I can dream...
Switch OS, features, apps:
Online Service Perks (including those mentioned above) $20 a year / $5 for 3 months
First-Party Accessories
Switch Games
First Party
In the meantime, an HD Remaster (not remake) of “Windwaker, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword HD Trilogy” for Switch with reworked motion controls and Amiibo support.
Pokemon
*All Past Pokemon Games, with Pokemon Bank support on Switch
Pokemon Bank
Third Party Games
Previous third-party games on other consoles on Switch
Square Enix * Square Enix restores commitment to Nintendo by bringing entire Final Fantasy library to Switch, with staggered releases * First release classic Final Fantasy from the original to FFVI, * PS1 era FFVII to IX, * PS2 remasters FFX/X-2 HD and FFXII Zodiac Age HD, * Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy, * Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition with exclusive Switch DLC and all past DLC included. * Final Fantasy VII Remake coming to Switch same day as Xbox One, after timed-exclusive launch on PS4. * Announcement of simultaneous Kingdom Hearts 3 release with a Kingdom Hearts HD Remix collection with KH 1.5 + 2.5 + 2.8 HD Remixes available as a collection this SummeFall * Release of classic Chrono Trigger Games on Switch
Rockstar * Grand Theft Auto V is coming to Switch alongside the Online Service in September. * GTA3/ Vice City/ San Andreas HD Collection this summer * GTA IV this fall * Announcement of GTA 6 to be released next year with simultaneous launch on Switch * And... Red Dead Redemption
Capcom * More Mega Man * Resident Evil 7 is coming to Switch this fall * Classic RE games coming this summer, including RE Classic Collection (RE0, RE1, RE2, RE3), Code Veronica X HD, RE4 HD, RE5, RE6
And many other top third-party games previously released on PlayStation and Xbox Platforms, but the above are my favorites.
Edit: formatting. As you can tell, I have a ton of wishes and hopes for the Switch and the vast majority of them will never happen. I’d just love to have the option to play all of my favorite franchises on one hybrid system, with features that exist in other platforms with their own Nintendo-esque flair.
Edit 2: I realize this list is long and my wishes are “insane” and that this post is “pointless” to some. I had this sitting in my phone’s notes for a bit and recently added even more to it and figured, “hey, if I share this on NintendoSwitch 100s of people will hate it, leave pointless and/or negative comments and downvote it into oblivion, but maybe one or two people will think “I hope so, too”.
Why? Because I’m bored and can’t decide whether to finish Korok seed collecting or power moon collecting, or to start one of the myriad games I’ve purchased but barely played.
Don’t like this post? —fine, I expected as much. Downvote it. If you think one or more of the ideas would be awesome even if far-fetched, maybe upvote it. Doesn’t bother me much either way. I think my karma drops every time I make post anywhere on reddit anyway.
